With the squint of the eye it may resemble Lady Penelope’s Rolls-Royce

FAB1 but don’t bet on seeing Parker at the wheel of this wacky hybrid.

Aptly named “The Pink Aeroplane Jeep”, this street art car is just one
of the many weird and wonderful creations of performance artists known
as ‘Transmutant’.

For full story and pictures:

Working out of his scrap yard in Watford, “Mad” Alan Cumber spent over
1,000 hours creating the bizarre road-worthy contraption.

“Everything we make is a one off – you could copy it if you tried,”
says Alan.

“The Pink Aeroplane Jeep consists of a Senna training plane cockpit
attached to a  Suzuki jeep.

“The plane had been decommissioned and we got a call to go and collect
it. So we cut it into this jeep and folded some metal around it and
got it going.

“Sometimes you can be driving down the road and there is a skip and
you see something in there and think it would be useful- anything goes.”

Displayed at festivals, promotions and private parties these array of
crazy creations are just one aspect of Alan’s ‘Transmutant’ experience.

A collective of multi-skilled sculptors, performers and musicians,
Alan’s Transmutant group travel the country displaying their array of
talents in alternative entertainment.

Exhibited at festivals such as Glastonbury, the “Pink Aeroplane Jeep”
is joined by other creations such as the “Bug”, a purple and pink
contraption made from two cars and six motorbikes and the “Mosquito” -
a helicopter that Alan describes as a ‘work in progress’.

Established five years ago, Transmutant is now one of the most popular
art performances in the country.

“Transmutant’s started off as birthday party and now it has taken off
and our crowd has got bigger and bigger,” he says.

“We arrive at festivals and events and bring them alive through our
creations, musicians and acts.

“This year we are set to appear at Glastonbury, The Glade and the
Bournemouth tattoo convention in June.

“Its tremendous fun and we are really looking forward to the summer.”
