A German firm is offering customers the chance to ‘pimp their garage’ with unique 3-D designs for their doors.

Viewed from a distance, the printed motifs could be mistaken for a real jet parked up inside or even give the impression that the owner has traded in his old car for a brand new Formula One racer.

The brainchild of Thomas Sassenbach, “Style-Your-Garage.com” has been selling the head-turning designs since April 2008 and has now become so popular that they can barely keep up with their orders.

“The idea came to me during a drive through my hometown of Cologne and I noticed all the drab, flaky and monotone garage doors,” says graphic designer and advertising guru Thomas.

“I wanted to bring a sense of fun and style to garage’s and so came up with head-turning designs.

“People really do go for a double take after seeing the power boat or formula one car and then they smile when they realise what in fact they are actually looking at.”

Printed onto rain and fire-resistant tarpaulin, Thomas’ designs are available in three sizes with prices starting at £145.

Sized for a standard European garage, Thomas and his Munich based team even offer the option of a personalised garage front based on a picture or specific request from the potential customer.

“The garage fronts are attached by the home or lock-up owner themselves,” says Thomas.

“This is easy as they are held in place by industrial strength velcro, which enables them to be removed with ease and also for new designs to be put in place.

“Anyone can put up the design, it only takes 40mins tops.”

Claiming that the supersonic jet is the company’s most popular item, Thomas says that in the last few months they have been taking orders from as far away as New York City to Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean.

‘The billboards are almost indestructible,” says Thomas.

“They are not dissimilar to truck tarpaulins, but have a finer structure. The material is rip-proof and can be cut without damaging it. What’s more, the billboards are completely weather-proof.”

Not content with adding colour to boring garage doors, Thomas has set his sights on the humble front door.

“Just as there are millions of garages worldwide there are even more doors,” explains Thomas.
