The former fattest man in the world is back on a diet after gaining 10
stone – despite having a gastric band fitted.

Man mountain Patrick Deuel, from Kearney, Nebraska, USA., incredibly
managed to pile on the pounds despite having the operation to
drastically cut his weight.
Once known as the ‘half-ton man’, food fan Patrick became famous in
2004 when an entire wall was removed from his American home so he
could get out for emergency dentistry work.
It was the first time the colossal 47-year-old had left his bed in
over seven months. Incredibly, health officials used a cattle scale to
weigh him because he was too big for a human one.
Shocked by his enormity, doctors warned he was literally eating
himself to death on pizza, nachos, chocolate and fried chicken, giving
him just weeks left to live.

So taking drastic measures in October 2004, Dr Fred Harris – a
formerly obese gastric specialist who had lost over seven stone with
the same op – fitted Patrick with a gastric band.
In a shocking turnaround out-of-work Patrick’s heaving mass plummeted
from an unbelievable 77 stone to just 27 stone in 18 months, making
him literally half the man he used to be.

But last year lonely Patrick began comfort eating masses of junk food
after wife Edie, 61, a customer services worker for a sports company,
had to move away for work.
“I only saw her twice in six months,” said Patrick.
“I was so miserable without her. I missed her like crazy. I just
stayed in the house all day packing up our stuff and waiting until I
could be with her again.”
Despite having had his stomach shrunk – and the fact overeating would
make him violently vomit – Patrick’s weight ballooned back to a hefty
36 stone.
But he has once more taking up his battle against the bulge vowing
never to become the 1,000lb man again.
Last month he was reunited with his wife and the couple have moved in
to an apartment block with a gym.
“I’m gonna get down there and work out,” he said.
“I never want to be that big again and I know how quickly things can
hit hell if you don’t watch it.
“Now me and Edie are back together again things are all going to be
great.”
