Most people get a thrill at the fairground, but for Amy Wolfe, it’s
turned into a bizarre romance with a magic carpet ride.
For full story and pictures:
Amy, 33, has been in love with the 80ft high gondola since she was
just ten years old and insists they now have a fulfilling, sexual
relationship.
Incredibly, she even plans to marry the ride called ‘1001 Nachts’, or
‘1001′ for short and change her surname to Weber, after the
manufacturer of the machine.
Amy suffers a rare condition called objectum sexuality, which causes
sufferers to be attracted to inanimate objects.
She says: “I know people think it’s weird but I love him as much as
women love their husbands and know we’ll be together forever.”

Amy, who has never had a real boyfriend, first fell in love with 1001
which is based in an amusement park 80 miles from her home – when
she was just 13.
“I was instantly attracted to him sexually and mentally,” recalls Amy
from Pennsylvania, USA.
“I wasn’t freaked out as it just felt so natural but I didn’t tell
anyone about it because I knew it wasn’t ‘normal’ to have feelings for
a fairground ride.”

But Amy, who suffers from a mild form of Aspergers Syndrome which
affects the way she relates to other people, didn’t get to see 1001
again for another ten years.
She says: “While all my friends were going through their teens having
crushes on boys, I was still thinking about 1001. I confided how I
felt to my friend Caroline. She thought it was a bit strange but said:
“Well if that makes you happy”.
“She’d known me since I was little and knew I suffered Aspergers,
which made me a bit different anyway. She warned me not to tell too
many people in case they thought I was nuts.”
When Amy left school and her friends started settling down, she was
still fantasising about the magic carpet ride, and aged 23 she went
back to Knoebels Amusement Park to declare her love to 1001.
Since then the unemployed church organist has been making the four-
hour round trip up to ten times a year. She rides on 1001 up to 30
times each visit and has befriended operating staff who allow her to
ride on it after the theme park closes.
She says: “I tell him how much I’ve missed him and what I’ve been up
to since my last visit. And I kiss the bits I can reach. The staff are
really understanding.”

Since then Amy says they’ve been in a spiritual relationship and
communicate psychically on a daily basis.
“We like to watch Star Trek and listen to classical and world music,”
says Amy, who discovered a huge online community of objectum sexuals
when she was 25.
“Our favourite thing to do before we go to sleep at night is talk
about philosophy.”
Amy, who says she’s not interested in having a family, reveals she has
faced a lot of discrimination because of her relationship.
“My eldest brother refuses to talk to me and I’ve lost jobs because of it.
“But the rest of my family and my friends have been very accepting.
“I’m not hurting anyone and I can’t help it, it’s just the way I feel.
It may have its complications, but it’s a part of who I am.”
Amy says she doesn’t feel jealous of other people who ride 1001.
“Entertaining people is his job and I accept that. I’ve thought about
trying to get a job at the theme park but I don’t think it’s good to
mix business with pleasure.”
Amy has asked the ride’s operators to give her spare nuts and bolts
from 1001 so she can feel closer to him.
“I’d like to live closer to Knoebels so I could visit him whenever I
wish. But I always carry small parts of him with me wherever I go.”
But Amy, who admits she’s also had feelings for other inanimate
objects, says she has a great love life with 1001.
She says: “I use photos of 1001 to help me orgasm in private. It’s
very satisfying and we both climax at the same time using a spiritual
connection. We could never have sex where he lives because it’s public
and it would be indecent.”
Amy, who has a picture of 1001 on the ceiling above her bed, adds:
“1001 makes me happier than any human ever could.”
