Sultan Kosen, 26, who is a remarkable 8 FEET 1 INCH tall, was officially recognised by Guinness as the loftiest man on the globe.

Smiling Sultan also showed off his hands, which at 27.5cm across, are also the world’s largest.

The basketball player from Turkey is one of only ten people throughout history to top eight feet, and takes the record from previous tallest man China’s Bao Xi Shun, who is 7ft 9ins.

The farm worker, who lives with his parents, three brothers and sister, was also given his first bespoke suit in blue pinstripes from tailors A Suit That Fits.

“The best thing about being tall is being able to see from a great distance,” he said.

“And changing lightbulbs and hanging curtains is very easy.”

And Sultan was fitted with a shiny pair of new shoes for his world record breaking 36.5inch long feet.

He said: “The hardest things are finding clothes and shoes to fit, or getting into a normal-sized car.

“I’d like to travel the world and have a car that accommodates my size.

“My biggest dream though is to find love. I’d like to get married and have children.”

Sultan was a normal height until the age of 10 when a tumour on his pituitary gland caused too much growth hormone to be released.

He kept on shooting up until doctors diagnosed the condition and he underwent a successful operation to remove the tumour last year.

Sultan, who was brought over to Britain by The Guinness Book of Records to launch its 2010 edition, will now tour Germany, the USA and his home country of Turkey.
