Immobile Tillmon Webb, 33, was so obese he was afraid to leave his caravan in Greenwood, South Carolina, for fear of being mocked and abused.

He stayed in his seat and had become physically attached to it after urinating and defecating there.

Tillmon’s wife Ada told police he had not moved since March after becoming embarrassed and ashamed of his state.

Ambulance staff and police were called to the mobile home on Wednesday morning after reports her husband was sick.

They found him covered in sores with a ‘very bad odour’ and physically stuck to the seat.

Emergency service workers had to dismantle the chair to free Tillmon and fire crews cut out a wall of the caravan to rescue him.

He was taken to Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood where he was immediately placed in protective custody by the South Carolina Department of Social Services. But he died a few hours later.

Sadly Tillmon died on his second wedding anniversary after meeting Ada four years ago on social networking website MySpace.

Ada said: “I didn’t see a man who weighed more than 500 pounds. I saw a guy who loved the Lord and had a big heart.

“I had the worst anniversary yesterday I ever had, but I know he had the best one he ever had because he’s with Jesus now.”

Tillmon drove school buses for nearly 15 years until his weight made the job impossible.

His health kept getting worse, and Ada Webb begged hospital officials to keep him after doctors treated his knee injury in March. But the couple had no way to pay and he was sent home.

Tillmon spent the rest of his days playing with his four dogs and talking about religion to other people on the Internet.

His wife said he refused help and insisted on staying in his chair.

She had been trying to clean him up as much as possible herself but struggled to move him because of his size.

“People would point, look, laugh and make fun of him,” she said. “He had no desire to leave his home.

“I did all I could for him. He loved me with a passion.

“The only reason he held on to life here was for his family because he wanted to go home and be with the Lord.”

Tillmon’s mum, who was not named, said her son called her on Tuesday night saying he was in pain and needed help.

Greenwood County Coroner Jim Coursey said Webb’s death was due to natural causes brought about by obesity.

No charges are being filed in relation to the case.
