An Icelandic shopping website is selling the ash of the infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano in sealed jars for around £27 a pop.

Ash cloud permitting Nammi.is will fly 160g of dust which from the volcano which crippled Western Europe and world air travel straight to your door.
To refute any claims of cashing in on Iceland’s most notorious contribution to world affairs in living memory, Nammi.is says that all profits from the tiny jars of volcanic ash will go to a charity helping with the clean up in Iceland.
Filling the jars from the thousands of tons of tons of ash that has fallen and is still falling from the sky over Iceland, Nammi.is is donating the cash to ICE-SAR which is providing relief to Icelandic farmers.
“We were initially approached by a friend of mine who asked me to place some of the ash into an envelope and to post it to him,” said Sofus Gustavsson, 37, managing director of Nammi.is.
“He thought that it would be a souvenir of a major world event and of course that turned out to be true.
“So what we realised was that there were thousands of people around the world who might like to own a piece of the volcano which disrupted their holiday or ruined their reunion.
“But this also gave us a chance to help the people of Iceland who people should remember were deeply affected by the volcano too.”
Eyjafjallajökull, which erupted in March this year and caused untold chaos to world air travel in April and again this month, is still rumbling away.
The grey ash inside the jars originates from a depth of four and a half miles and is more than 1100 degrees hot when it emerges to the surface and comes into contact with the 300 metres thick glacial ice.
The resulting mixture of rock, ice and lava eventually falls in the form of ash, which Nammi.is has placed in jars for sale.
“The volcano caused over 100,000 flights coming in and out of Europe to be affected and millions of people to change their plans,” said Sofus.
“This is a piece of history and people might want to own it.”
