Fearsome Predators Fight For Food

Eagles might seem like a fearsome predator at the top of their food tree, but when meals are scarce they have to resort to every bird for itself.

The majestic birds, snapped by photographer Marcin Nawrocki  outside Wloclawek, central Poland, stand just under a metre high and have a massive wingspan of over 2.5 metres.
Nawrocki said: “Whenever they see a dead animal they just want it all, so they fight with each other.

“They are showing their power”.
Despite the brutal-looking brawl, Nowrocki, who is 33 and works as a computer scientist in Wloclawek, said that all the animals escaped without serious harm and flew off the fight another day.
White-tailed eagles, a close relative of the bald eagle, are the fourth-largest eagle in the world.
They are most predominant in Europe and Asia and live to an average of around 21 but have been recorded living for as long as 25 years.
